INTERVIEW with Discrepancies
1.Where are you from and how would you describe your city?
A. St. Louis, Missouri. We're located in the middle of the country-ish and the art culture here is very alive and well. Throughout the city, you can see many different types of art by simply strolling. Murals are plentiful here, there are full miles of walls with entire paintings on them, many venues are having more genres than ever performing, and honestly, we just hope it continues as the pandemic subsides.
2.How long have you been doing what your doing and how did you get started in the first place?
A. We started the band in 2014 and released a 6 track EP. We got started as a group because we couldn't find members to do the style we wanted, which was much more in the Northlane realm, so we decided to try some alternative styles. Garrett worked with ATG and pitched him some songs, and he joined creating the Rap/Rock style that you now hear.
3.In your opinion who is the most influential and successful Band in your genre and why?
A. I think this will be highly debated, but in the rap/rock style I would say currently the most influential and overall successful band in this genre would be Linkin Park. They were there when the sound was as big as its ever been, they were on every tour at the time, they can still sell stadiums out, plus Chester's passing was tragic but also mourned by the world. They definitely created their stamp on the genre.
4.So what are your current thoughts on the music industry?
A. This is hard question to answer given the current state of the world. (Answered during the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic.) I think our plan is to keep doing what we've been doing, try to be consistent with releases, create content, and hope someone out there sees it and is impacted in a positive way.
5.How do you separate yourself from other artists?
A. We push to always create what we want to create. While we all are influenced by many artists, I'd say something that truly creates our sound is how different everyone is and how we piece all pf the layers together to make something that means a lot to us, and hopefully does the same for others.
6.Who influenced your style?
A.Some of our biggest influences would range from Tech N9ne to Rage Against The Machine, Linkin Park, Alter Bridge, RHCP
7.What aspect of the music-making process excites you most and what aspect discourages you the most?
A. I think by far the most fun part for everyone is writing and creating in the studio. We do a lot of writing before we go in, but once we're ready to really get into it in the studio everyone really comes alive and gets excited.
8.Whats the most craziest thing that has happened on tour?
A. The craziest story we have is actually a bit of a van wreck. We had a tire blow on the interstate and it, unfortunately, took the van off the road into the crossway, and up onto the oncoming traffic side of the highway. We thought we were going to die, but luckily just managed to avoid the cars and get the van taken to the shop!
9. If you can describe your fans in one word what would it be and why?
A. Wild. We have fans that range from young kids to middle-aged, and no matter what show or where, people seem to enjoy going crazy.
10.Which latest songs, videos, or Mixtape releases are currently available to your fans and where can they be heard or downloaded?
